Your arrivals day is nearly here...

Are you counting down the days till you start your uni course? Are you excited about moving into halls? We bet you are, but we also know that the unknown can be slightly daunting. To ease the pain, we thought we'd let you know what is likely to happen on the arrival day. Remember, we will all be in it together, and most of the people around you will be as excited and slightly nervous as you!

By now, you should have completed the online induction and selected an arrival slot. If you haven't done it yet, go back to the emails that you received from the Allocations Team and get it sorted - at the end of the induction, you'll get an arrival pass which you can either print off or save on your phone.

This year everyone is arriving on the 17^th of September. We won't lie to you, with so many people around it might seem a bit hectic, but the whole process is normally very quick. The first thing you'll need to do is report to the reception at your hall (or a registration desk) where we can check you in, just like when you stay in a hotel. You will find out your number and get a key! 

If you have any questions you will be able to ask them during your registration, there will be a member of the Allocations team and Finance team available. Don't worry if you can't think of any questions at that time, they will be there all day and you can always send an email.

When you get your keys, one of the RAs (Resident Advisors) will help you find your room. Then you can put your luggage down... Welcome home!



Throughout the arrival day, there will be tours of the hall. Have a look around, the times will be displayed somewhere in the reception area. It's a perfect opportunity to get to know, not only the building where you'll be living for a whole year but also your neighbours, so do take advantage of it.

In the evening, there is normally an event welcoming new residents into the hall so make sure you attend it - everyone will be there so it'll be a perfect opportunity to make new friends.

Remember, the first day will be slightly strange... New place, new people, tiredness after the journey... Don't be hard on yourself, try to enjoy it and make the most of it, this is just the beginning of a great year!
