A THRIVE Event
Come and Engage with THRIVE with our Mug Painting session. There are plenty of paints to choose from to design your own custom mug!
All materials will be provided and perfection is not expected! This low-pressure arts and crafts session can be great way to engage your artistic side or even get to know some new people.
You'll be supported, but this session is not instructor led, follow your heart on how you approach your own work.
All THRIVE events and activities are set up to align with the PERMA model of positive psychology and are designed to meet at least TWO of the model's five core elements of wellbeing: Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Accomplishment.
Here's how this activity meets the model:
POSITIVE EMOTIONS
Creative activities can bring positive feelings of joy, connection and playfulness. Finding the time and space to bring about these emotions are great in the moment, and doing this regularly is even better - making a habit of a creative hobby or task can be incredibly satisfying, giving you an escape from the demands of the day.
ENGAGEMENT
Focusing on a task, especially a creative one like this, which needs both the attention of your mind and your hands, allows you to be absorbed in just one moment and one task. Our lives are busy and are to-do lists can be long. Let yourself find your flow and maybe even build your art skills.
RELATIONSHIPS
Whether you choose to chat or not, being in a shared space and focusing on the same task can create a feeling of community. Embracing community can help combat loneliness, bring people closer together, and create a feeling of safety.
ACCOMPLISHMENT
You'll be able to walk away with a mug that only you could've painted! Carefully heat set it at home once the paint has dried to use it (although, we don't recommend your mouth/food/drink making contact with anywhere that has been painted!) or use the mug as pen pot, for a plant, or to just display!
