A THRIVE Event

Our last THRIVE Lunch Stop Spot of November, and it's a biggie! Join us for Dog Therapy, facilitated by The Cuddle Club!

Unlike our usual Stop Spots, this event does require sign up beforehand - we're dealing with living, breathing beings here. As much as they're here to bring you joy and comfort, they need breaks and a safe environment too. So once you sign up, please stick to your allotted time.

We've also got some ground rules to ensure the dogs' wellbeing:

  • No human food or canned drinks are allowed in the space (bottled water only).
  • Dogs are only to be fed treats as provided by their handlers.
  • You cannot bring your own pet, they are not permitted to interact with The Cuddle Club animals at any time.
  • Listen to instruction and guidance from The Cuddle Club staff and event hosts, and treat them and the dogs with respect.

Please note that: The Cuddle Club accepts no liability for incidents, injuries, or allergic reactions that occur where instructions have not been followed.

All THRIVE events and activities are set up to align with the PERMA model of positive psychology and are designed to meet at least TWO of the model's five core elements of wellbeing: Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Accomplishment.

Here's how this activity meets the model:

POSITIVE EMOTIONS

Spending time with dogs can not only help release happy hormones, like oxytocin, and can help reduce stress and anxiety in turn. A cuddle, a belly rubbing, looking into those puppy dog eyes - these are all ways to get you feeling better, and of course the dog can love that too!

ENGAGEMENT

Our lives can be stressful, so take 20 minutes away from your desk to be in the moment with some furry friends. When you're with the dogs, we want you to pay attention to their body language. We don't want you to have a spare second to think about that assignment or that email. Now's not about the deadline, this moment is about you and the dog.

RELATIONSHIPS

This kind of socialisation is great for dogs and humans! Bond with not just a dog or two, but the people in your group! We're sure you'll leave with some fond memories together, and it'll teach you a little something about taking the time out to just be in the moment. Doesn't matter what kind of creature you go on to spend time with - a dog, a local pigeon, a peer - give them some special attention and further your friendship.
