A THRIVE Event

Welcome to another THRIVE Lunch Stop Spot! Every Thursday lunch time we'll be having a drop-in event in Study @ Bloom, where you'll be able to stop by for a few minutes out of your lunch time for a new event or activity!

This week we've teamed up with the lovely people at Round Table Books to giveaway books for free! This Black History Month, pick up a book or two for free, from a selection of fiction and non-fiction works by Black British authors. Also come and pick up a zine on more places to learn about Black British history in London!

All THRIVE events and activities are set up to align with the PERMA model of positive psychology and are designed to meet at least TWO of the model's five core elements of wellbeing: Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Accomplishment.

Here's how this activity meets the model:

ENGAGEMENT

Taking a moment to yourself with a new book allows you to focus and really take in what you're reading - no matter the genre. If you're picking up something non-fiction, this is an opportunity to engage and learn something new. And if it's fiction, allow yourself to be transported to another world for half an hour. Allowing yourself time to read can be both restful and stimulating for the mind.

MEANING

A book is able to give you a whole new perspective. Perhaps the enlightenment you've been waiting for has been on the page? The next book you read could move you in a new direction or maybe it even reinvigorates your passion. Your TBR list may well be lacking authors of Black British descent, so come pick one up, open up your mind and allow yourself to engage with some important and impactful pieces of work.
