A THRIVE Event
Here's another way to Move with THRIVE this term. Join dancer and fitness instructor Chani Bell for her Lengthen and Strengthen Class, - a dynamic mix of mat Pilates, floor barre, and yoga sculpt. This class focuses on alignment, strength-building techniques, and active stretching, all set to a funky playlist to drive the tempo.
You can make the most of it by attending all 4 classes, but feel free to come to whatever you can.
All THRIVE events and activities are set up to align with the PERMA model of positive psychology and are designed to meet at least TWO of the model's five core elements of wellbeing: Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Accomplishment.
Here's how this activity meets the model:
POSITIVE EMOTIONS
Exercise releases endorphins, which in turn, releases lots of good feelings! While the class maybe challenging, we hope you'll leave with a smile on your face after a feel good hour of movement that'll make you feel both stretched and strong.
ENGAGEMENT
This is an activity that'll allow you to engage with both your body and your mind. What muscles are you working? Where are you feeling that stretch? Remember to breathe! This class can make you feel more grounded, more connected with yourself.
RELATIONSHIPS
You'll be moving along with others in the class, guided by a qualified instructor. Even when you aren't saying much at all, this is a moment of connection as you all move towards the same goal. Sweating along side each other creates a bond like no other.
ACCOMPLISHMENT
You came to the class, you learnt something new, you got through the lengthening and strengthening moves. You did it. Sometimes, the hardest thing is just coming into class. Feel proud that you've made it this far and did your best.
The Details
Where? International Hall's Multipurpose/Yoga Room - this isn't your hall? No worry, let reception know you're here for the class and we'll escort you down.
When? For 4 weeks, starting the 19th of February! Class starts at 4:30pm, so please arrive before then. We wrap up at 5:30pm. We recommend you bring a bottle of water and wear comfortable clothing, suitable for lots of movement.
How? Spaces are limited, so sign up below.
THRIVE events may include photography and filming. If you do not want to be photographed, please let a member of staff know.
