A THRIVE Event
Welcome to your first THRIVE Lunch Stop Spot of the term! This is a drop-in event in Study @ Bloom, where you'll be able to stop by for a few minutes out of your lunch time for a new event or activity!
This week it's a Staring Contest - bring a friend along and stare into their eyes! Whoever lasts the longest without blinking gets a gift card! Choose from gift cards for Deliveroo, Odeon and Costa Coffee. Whether you share the gift or not is up to you!
All THRIVE events and activities are set up to align with the PERMA model of positive psychology and are designed to meet at least TWO of the model's five core elements of wellbeing: Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Accomplishment.
Here's how this activity meets the model:
POSITIVE EMOTIONS
Look, we know that this is a silly activity - and that's part of the point. You may end up laughing along with your friends and experiencing the joy of doing something just a bit fun with them. Emotions like joy can make us feel happier (obviously!), and in turn we're able to go about our day feeling better and spreading happiness.
RELATIONSHIPS
It's been a long winter without our friends. What's a better way to reconnect with them than to stare ever so deeply into their eyes? Eye contact makes us feel closer to people, more bonded, like we know each other better. It may be a little awkward, but you'll leave the contest better friends than before. And maybe even best friends if you're willing to share that gift card with them.
