So fresh, so clean
Doing that weekly wash is simple once you know the basics. Here’s a quick guide to using the laundry facilities in your hall.
Using the laundry in your hall
- In all residences (except Garden Halls), laundry facilities are run by Forbes.
- You can pay for both washing machines and dryers with a contactless card or mobile banking – no coins or tokens required.
- Each laundrette also has an iron and an ironing board you can use.
Garden Halls Residents
- At Garden Halls, your laundry service is provided by Washstation.
- To use the machines please download the Washstation App on your smartphone to create an account and add credit to your account.
- Further advice and tip are available in the app or you can call the customer helpline on: 0800 141 2331.
- If you have any issues with the washing machines/dryers, please get in touch with Washstation (tel: 0800 141 2331 or www.washstation.co.uk).
If something goes wrong
If a machine isn’t working or your payment fails, just head to your hall reception desk for assistance.
Tips for a smooth wash
- Bring your own detergent – liquid or powder is fine.
- Don’t overload the machine – it won’t wash properly.
- Stay with your washing if you can, or at least set a timer on your phone so you can collect it when the cycle ends. Leaving laundry too long can cause problems for other residents.
- Most machines have clear options for colours, whites, and quick washes.
Costs and cycle times
- Washes and dries are charged separately. The exact cost is shown in the app before you start a cycle.
- A wash usually takes around 30–40 minutes, while drying can take up to an hour depending on the load.
