Staying warm and sustainable in halls

Posted 21 hours ago

It's time to wrap up🧣

The colder nights are already here, so it's important you know how to stay warm and cosy in your accommodation. There's lots of easy hacks to help you keep warm without relying on radiators.

Layer up 🧤

Did you know that lots of thin layers can help trap heat better than one thick layer? Think short-sleeved tops on top of long-sleeved tops, jumpers over t-shirts, fluffy socks and dressing gowns – all at the same time!

P.S. Never underestimate the power of a hot water bottle.

Keep your room cosy 🧸

Curtains aren't just for blocking out the early morning sun, they also help keep the warmth in. Close them when it gets dark, and if you've got a draft around the window, roll up a towel as a makeshift draught excluder.

Hot drinks = warm hands ☕️

Tea, coffee, hot chocolate (or a cheeky mulled wine) can warm you up from the inside, and is the perfect reason for a study break. A refillable flask or reusable cup can also keep your drink hot for longer, making it the ideal on-the-go hand warmer.

Use the heating smartly ♨️

When the heating is turned on, make it count. Don't block the radiators so heat can actually get around the room, and keep the doors closed so that no heat escapes.

Get active 🏃‍♂️

If you can't seem to warm up, get your blood flowing with some movement. Whether it's a long run, short walk around the block or a dance in your bedroom, moving your body is a great way to get warm.

Follow these easy hacks to stay warm and be more sustainable as the cold nights roll in – cosy season is here!
