Everything you need to know about living in College Hall

College Hall is located in the heart of Bloomsbury and provides accommodation for more than 350 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Ideally situated on Malet Street, the hall is within easy walking distance of Senate House, University College London (UCL), SOAS, Birkbeck, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and several Royal Holloway departments. Residents also benefit from being close to some of London's most iconic landmarks and amenities, including the British Museum, the British Library, Regent's Park, the Bloomsbury garden squares, St Pancras International and King's Cross.

Your safety and wellbeing are our priority. College Hall offers a 24-hour reception, secure keycard access, an on-site Warden Team, and a dedicated Hall Management team, ensuring support is always available throughout your stay.

Each single en-suite room includes:

Frequently Asked Questions

Your room includes a mattress and mattress protector, but you will need to provide your own bedding, including:

  • Duvet
  • Pillows
  • Bed sheets
  • Pillowcases


If you are travelling light or arriving from overseas, you can order a bedding pack online before your arrival and have it delivered directly to College Hall.

As College Hall is a catered residence, you will not need extensive cooking equipment such as pots and pans. Breakfast and dinner are served every weekday, with brunch available on most weekends.


Communal pantries are available for preparing light snacks and hot drinks and include:

  • Microwave
  • Kettle
  • Communal refrigerator
  • Iron and ironing board


You may also bring your own refrigerator (up to 50 litres), provided it is removed when you leave the hall.


We recommend downloading the Food at UAL app (Google Play and App Store), where you can:

  • View daily menus
  • Access allergen information
  • Request a packed meal if you are unable to attend breakfast or dinner because of academic commitments

Yes. College Hall has an on-site laundry room equipped with modern Forbes washing machines and tumble dryers.


Current prices are: 

  • Cost per wash: £2.50
  • Cost per dry: £1.50

Yes. You are welcome to bring your own television.


Please note that bedrooms do not have traditional TV aerial sockets. If you watch or record live television on any device, or use BBC iPlayer, you are legally required to have your own valid UK TV Licence.

College Hall provides high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the building via Glide Resident.


Before connecting, you will need to create a Glide account using your preferred username and password.

  • Find connection guidance

Letters and small mail items are delivered to your secure mailbox located near the main reception.


Larger parcels are accepted by the reception team on your behalf and securely logged into the parcel management system. You will receive an automated email notification when your parcel is ready for collection. Parcels can be collected from the 24-hour reception desk by presenting your student ID card.
