Celebrate Bonfire Night in the city 🎇

Remember, remember the 5th November – Guy Fawkes Day, otherwise known as Bonfire Night, is here!

Get ready for a celebration of bonfires, firework displays, sparklers and more.

What is Bonfire Night?

Celebrated on November 5th, the tradition of Bonfire Night goes back to 1605, when a group of men (including Guy Fawkes), tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London as they wanted to kill King James the first – an event known as the Gunpowder plot. Their attempt was discovered and stopped, so the King's survival was celebrated with bonfires in celebration.

This is now a yearly tradition, less about politics now and more about community events, firework shows and enjoying an Autumn evening outdoors with friends. And London has some of the most iconic firework displays in the UK!

There aren't many fireworks displays and bonfires in central London, but you don't have to head far to find one.
