Hi everyone! My name’s Helena, and I’m currently living at International Hall. I’m originally from Hong Kong but have been in the UK for the past eight years. I thought I’d share a few of my favourite spots in London for you to explore!

One of the most beautiful places I’ve discovered is Richmond Park. I adore it there as it is the perfect escape from the busy London streets. It’s tranquil, open, and full of wildlife. You’ll find yourself surrounded by deer’s and greenery, feeling completely at peace. The contrast between Richmond’s calm atmosphere and the busyness of central London is what makes it so special. The town itself is quaint, serene, and wonderfully grounding and the best part, it’s less than an hour away! There is super easy access via the District line on the tube.

Getting around London can be a bit overwhelming at first, but here are a few things that make it easier. I highly recommend using the “Tube Map” app for route planning. It works offline and is super straightforward. City mapper is also very useful, a quick tip: keep your phone in a zipped bag or pocket to avoid any pickpocketing mishaps. UCLGo will become your best friend, everything you need for school in on there and my favourite function is the reserve a seat at the study centres.

If you’re new to London, I definitely recommend Richmond Park! A few of my other go-to spots closer to campus are Qima Café, Farmer J’s, Sky Garden, and FIRLD in Covent Garden. They’re all lovely places to relax, study, catch up with friends and is spacious, and with great food or coffee! If you have them time, definite go visits all the London museums. E.g. national gallery, Tate modern and Courtauld…
