Guilty! ‘Mugshots’ Highlights the Problem with Single-Use Cups on Campus

They may look recyclable, but don't be fooled.

Single-use coffee cups are wanted for misleading the public and contaminating recycling bins at the University of London, and across the UK.

90% of people in the UK mistakenly believe disposable coffee cups can be recycled.

Don't let your cup become a repeat offender. Bring your reusable cup instead! Help us reduce recycling contamination:

♻️ Bring your reusable cup: Use it again and again instead of reaching for a disposable. At the University of London, bringing your own cup or dining in saves you 30p, and similar incentives are mirrored at high street coffee shops.

Dine in: Enjoy your coffee in a ceramic mug at cafés when you have the time.

🗑️ If you do use a disposable cup, put it in General Waste: Even if it says it's recyclable, biodegradable or compostable, don't put it in the standard recycling bin at University of London.
