London is known to have many hidden scenic gems - good for runs. For students, it's important to take some time away from studying, not only for our mental well-being but also for our physical well-being.
So grab your running shoes and get ready for our top 5 running spots near Bloomsbury:
1. River Thames
Running through Bloomsbury and down to the River Thames offers an excellent flat and scenic route. With the distance being around 7.8km, you can escape the city and run amongst the boats.
2. Russell Square to Waterloo
If you're looking for a route around 5km, then Russell Square to Waterloo takes only 20-30 minutes. Starting at the south of Bloomsbury, it takes you past Covent Garden, crossing Waterloo Bridge, and finishing at the South Bank.
3. Russell Square to Regent's Garden
If you go the opposite way from the last route, and you're feeling more ambitious, this route from Russell Square is roughly 10km! Perfect for confident runners or those who decided it'd be fun to join an upcoming marathon when they've never run before.
4. Hyde Park
Another well-known running route is Hyde Park, offering flat, scenic paths and is perfect for longer 10km runs.
5. Hampstead Heath Trail
Whilst a little out of Bloomsbury, if you'd prefer to travel somewhere for a run rather than starting in Bloomsbury, Hampstead Heath is a wonderful and hilly running area. There are different routes to take, including the 6-mile 'Health Circuit', which covers most of the park.
