London can be a lot. If you’re bouncing between lectures, deadlines, work and general life admin, sometimes you just need somewhere that doesn’t feel like…London for a minute.
Here are a few easy “escape” spots that are properly calming, even if you only have half an hour.
Kyoto Garden, Holland Park
This is the ultimate reset place. There’s a little waterfall, koi fish and loads of quiet corners that make you instantly slow down.
Barbican Conservatory
Imagine a warm, leafy jungle! It’s such a good mood change, especially in winter when the weather can be cold and rainy.
- Silk St, London EC2Y 8DS
- Free, but it's often ticked so booking is advised
St Dunstan in the East
This one feels like a hidden level in a video game. It’s a garden inside the ruins of a church, right near the city.
Crossrail Place Roof Garden
A roof garden with covered paths and loads of plants. Canary Wharf can feel super calm at weekends too, like everyone’s left and you’ve got the place to yourself.
Little Venice
Little Venice is great if you'd like to get some steps in. You can wander by the canal, spot houseboats, and move at a slower pace.
Isabella Plantation, Richmond Park
This is the “I’m leaving London without leaving London” option. It’s peaceful, beautiful and feels miles away from everything.
So claim a little pocket of calm this week, even if it’s just 30 minutes. Grab a coffee, a podcast, a book, or just your headphones and let London fade into the background for a little bit.
