The UK Prime Minister has called a General Election to be held on the 4th July 2024.
Our reactions to this news may differ - some of us may be excited, nervous or stressed - or a mix of many emotions.
We have summarised some key information below to help you navigate this period of time.
REGISTERING TO VOTE: Important Dates
The deadline to register to vote is midnight on 18th June 2024.
The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on 19th June 2024.
The deadline to apply for voter ID as well as the deadline to apply for a proxy vote is 5pm on 26th June.
VOTING DAY
Polling stations will be open 7am-10pm on 4th July 2024.
Check your ballot card for the location of your polling station - it may not be where you'd expect!
If you register to vote in time, you should receive your ballot card in the post.
REMEMBER: ID is now required for in-person voting, so make sure you take it with you. Student IDs are NOT accepted.
